Our Staff to Speak at Joint Technical Symposium 2026
Our staff will be speaking on both days at the Joint Technical Symposium 2026, which will be held from March 3 to 4, 2026, at the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia.
[Day 1]
Speakers: Yoko Arai (Manager, Film Processing & Restoration Department) / Tomohiro Hasegawa (Color Imaging Engineer)
Presentation: They will present on AI-driven approaches to video restoration, titled, "Can AI save degraded video archives? An ethical approach to AV preservation through human-AI collaboration."
[Day 2]
Speaker: Hitomi Hosaka (Archive Coordinator)
Presentation: She will introduce initiatives and their effects for cleaning film with minimal environmental impact, titled, "Long-term heritage preservation via sustainable film cleaning innovation with existing infrastructure."

The Joint Technical Symposium (JTS) is an international scientific and technical event for professionals engaged in the preservation and management of audiovisual collections. Organised every few years since 1983 by the Coordinating Council of Audiovisual Archives Associations (CCAAA), it provides an opportunity for colleagues around the world and those interested in the field to meet and share information about the preservation of original image and sound materials.
