Imagica EMS Color Imaging Engineer to Present on Japanese 2D Animation Color Management at the "ASWF Open Source Days 2026"

We are proud to announce that Tomohiro Hasegawa, our Color Imaging Engineer, will be speaking at the international conference "ASWF Open Source Days 2026" to be held in Los Angeles, USA, from July 19 to 20, 2026.

"ASWF Open Source Days" is a premier international event hosted by the Academy Software Foundation (ASWF). It focuses on open-source software in VFX, animation and digital content creation. The event serves as a key global hub for production studios, software vendors, engineers and pipeline supervisors to share industry trends, practical use cases, best practices and the latest updates on open-source projects.

Selected from a highly competitive public Call for Proposals, Hasegawa's presentation will be featured in the main program on July 19, 2026 (PDT).

Presentation Overview & Our Technical Initiatives

As digital workflows and global delivery continue to evolve, we have been actively developing and implementing advanced color management pipelines to support high-end visual expression.

Focusing on color management for Japanese 2D animation production and remastering, Hasegawa's session will explore the core principles and practical challenges of integrating internationally recognized color standards, such as OpenColorIO (OCIO) and ACES, into actual production pipelines.

Key topics will include:

  • Implementing color management across simultaneous HDR/SDR environments
  • Designing OpenColorIO configurations to seamlessly share and verify HDR/SDR views between the production and post-production stages
  • Developing Look Transforms to adapt film-native looks for both HDR and SDR deliverables, with further extension for ACES alignment

During this session, we aim to share actionable, production-proven insights on OpenColorIO configurations, HDR/SDR view design, ACES-aligned look development and validation methodologies with global studios, software developers and the technical community.

We remain committed to organizing our technical expertise into verifiable, reusable assets, fostering active dialogue within global technical communities and building robust technical foundations that preserve and advance our clients' creative visions into the future.
