About EIDR

EIDR is a US-based non-profit organization founded in 2010 by major media and entertainment companies and governed by industry experts.  EIDR meets the crucial industry-wide need for a registry of industry-standard universal identifiers that supports the full range of film and television assets from feature films to short films, TV shows, series, seasons, and episodes to promotional ads and trailers. The single, unique unit of identifier assigned to each of these media assets links essential information about the asset and its relationship to others, making it easier for industry participants to identify and distribute media assets and automate the supply chain workflow. EDIR provides this foundational service to all industry participants.

EIDR Benefits:

EIDR supports industry participants to search, track or report the revenue of an asset.  EIDR helps companies cut costs and streamline their operations by

  • Increasing workflow efficiencies
  • Enabling value-added service
  • Providing APIs for developers of third-party applications and services, such as workflow integration, reporting, and linking to enhanced metadata
  • Having interoperability

EIDR membership enables us to help its customers manage their content assets better by

  • Reducing the risk of misidentification caused by duplication and lack of ID uniqueness
  • Improving internal media asset tracking
